Nathaniel Brown

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt star Nathaniel Brown, as per The Athletic.

The Gunners currently have Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapié as options to deploy in the left-back position. The Ecuadorian joined on loan from Bayer Leverkusen last summer, and the move is expected to be made permanent during this offseason.

Moreover, Myles Lewis-Skelly can provide cover in the left-back position if needed, but Mikel Arteta used him as a deep-lying playmaker during the last few games of this campaign.

Still, it appears the North London club are planning to add further depth to the LB position. Now, The Athletic report that Arsenal have expressed their interest in Brown after being impressed by his performances this season.

Although Frankfurt displayed inconsistent performances, the German showcased his productivity, making 10 goal contributions and keeping seven clean sheets in 42 appearances across all competitions.

Having proven his worth in club football, the 22-year-old has secured his place in Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany national team for this summer’s World Cup.

With the player’s existing deal set to run until 2030, the German side aren’t in any rush to sell him. They usually play hardball to let their star assets leave, with the player valued at around £35m by Transfermarkt.

Brown to Arsenal

He is an attack-minded left-back by trait and is also efficient in the LWB position. He is quick, technically sound, comfortable playing out from the back, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, and is also efficient in defensive contributions.

Brown is a talented player and possesses the necessary attributes to flourish at the highest level. So, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him.

However, having already got enough options on the left side of the defence, Arsenal don’t need to invest more to add further depth to this position unless anyone leaves.

Instead, they would be better off purchasing a new right-back as Ben White has continued to struggle with fitness problems in recent years.

Nevertheless, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to lure the Germany international to the Emirates Stadium ahead of next season.
