Arsenal to ‘make aggressive move’ to sign Julian Alvarez

By on May 26, 2026

Arsenal are reportedly ‘prepared to make an aggressive move’ to sign Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez, as per TEAMtalk.

Since moving to the Spanish capital from Manchester City, the 26-year-old has showcased his productivity over the last two campaigns. After making 37 goal contributions across all competitions in his debut season, he has netted 20 goals and registered nine assists in all tournaments this term.

However, he hasn’t won any major silverware at Los Rojiblancos. Now, TEAMtalk claim that after getting frustrated at Estadio Metropolitano, the Argentinian is open to leaving this summer to take a new challenge in his career, and his representatives have already informed Atletico Madrid about the player’s desire.

He prefers to join Barcelona, and the Blaugrana are keen on signing him. However, the Spanish giants don’t have the financial muscle to seal the deal by matching Los Rojiblancos’ more than £100m asking price.

So, Barcelona are exploring creative routes and are even preparing to include players in a part-exchange deal to reduce Diego Simeone’s side’s valuation.

If Barcelona eventually fail to finalise the operation, Alvarez is open to joining other clubs, with Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain also keen on securing his services.

The Gunners are ‘prepared to make an aggressive move’ by matching Atletico’s asking price. Moreover, they are ready to include a player in a swap deal to facilitate the move.

Alvarez to Arsenal

Since moving to the Emirates Stadium from Sporting CP, Viktor Gyokeres has established himself as the first-choice centre-forward. Moreover, Arsenal have Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz as backup strikers.

However, Jesus and Havertz have had fitness problems in recent years. On the other hand, Jesus has been heavily linked with a move away, as his existing deal is set to expire at the end of this season.

Alvarez is currently one of the best forwards in the world and previously proved his worth in the Premier League during his time with Man City. Alongside showcasing his qualities in club football, he has also enjoyed success on the international stage for Argentina.

So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they eventually manage to secure his service during the offseason.
