Koscielny Tipped To Make Early Injury Comeback Against Chelsea

Laurent Koscielny has a chance of making a sensational comeback against Chelsea tonight, according to the Mirror.
The defender was forced off against Manchester City last weekend with a horrific cut to his knee and it was feared he could be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney was out for around a month with a gash to his thigh and it looked like Kos could be out for a similar length of time after needing 10 stitches to close up the wound.
However, reports last week claimed that the injury wasn’t as bad as first feared and the cut had healed far quicker than the clubs staff had expected. It was suggested that the Frenchman could be back for our Boxing Day clash with West Ham or the trip to Newcastle two days later.
Boss Arsene Wenger then left the door open to a possible return against Chelsea after saying on Friday that it was ’80 or 90 per cent’ certain that Koscielny would miss tonight’s game, but it appears the defenders chances have improved significantly over the last two days with the Mirror reporting this morning that Kos took part in training over the weekend and is now in contention to face the Blues.
It would be a huge boost if true and a welcome surprise. When he went off against City, many thought he had done his cruciate and his season could be over, so to have him available for our next fixture would feel like a minor miracle.
If Koscielny is ruled out tonight, then Thomas Vermaelen will deputise alongside Per Mertesacker.
