Arsenal readying formal offer to sign AS Roma star Matias Soule
Arsenal have expressed interest in signing AS Roma right winger Matias Soule next summer, according to Fichajes.
Soule first came to prominence while on the books of Argentine side Vélez before joining Juventus Next Gen, where he progressed through the youth ranks at U17, U19, and U23 levels.
He was loaned to Frosinone in 2023, and despite the Lazio-based outfit suffering relegation to Serie B, the youngster was one of the club’s best performers, netting 11 goals and providing 3 assists in 39 games across all competitions.
Despite returning to Juventus with high expectations after impressing on loan, he only made 21 appearances for the 36-time Italian champions before joining Roma on a permanent deal in the summer of 2024.
Since he arrived at the Stadio Olimpico, Soule has established himself as one of Serie A’s most exciting wingers in his 79 appearances for the Giallorossi.
In the ongoing campaign, the 23-year-old has been one of Gian Piero Gasperini’s best players, netting seven goals and providing eight assists, with those displays drawing keen attention ahead of the summer.
Now, according to Fichajes, Arsenal have expressed interest in signing Soule to reinforce Mikel Arteta’s attack next summer and are willing to submit a formal £34m offer.
Exciting forward
With Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli facing uncertain futures at the Emirates, the Gunners are looking to revamp their attack by adding a versatile profile and have earmarked the right winger as a viable option for that role, according to the report.
However, the Premier League leaders will have to battle with Aston Villa, Liverpool and Brighton & Hove Albion in the race to sign the Argentine winger when the transfer window opens, Fichajes adds.
Soule’s ball-playing ability and creativity are his biggest strengths. In the ongoing campaign, he has recorded an 84.3% pass success rate and a sky-high 61.8% long-ball accuracy, highlighting his strong passing range, which could prove useful to Arteta’s side in creating transitions.
He could also provide a reliable creative outlet, having created 42 chances for his teammates — a reflection of his heavy involvement in attacking sequences through take-ons and touches in the opposition box, where he has recorded 96 so far.
As expected from a typical Arteta side, his team works relentlessly out of possession, further strengthening his suitability for the club. The exciting forward has won 99 duels, regained possession 34 times in the final third, and recorded 124 ball recoveries.
