Arsenal have made enquiries over the possible transfer of Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola to the Emirates Stadium next summer, according to Florian Plettenberg.

Since his move to the Parc des Princes in 2023, Barcola has developed rapidly, making an instant impression in his first full campaign, with 14 goal contributions across all competitions.

His numbers climbed significantly the following season, which proved to be the most productive of his career, as he finished with 42 goal involvements in 64 appearances — including 14 goals and 11 assists from 34 Ligue 1 matches for the defending champions.

That consistency has continued into the current campaign, with the former Lyon prodigy once again reaching double figures, producing 12 goals and seven assists across all competitions.

Despite his prolific goal output, cementing a regular starting role has remained difficult, as Luis Enrique has largely trusted the front three of Désiré Doué, Ousmane Dembélé, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia – all of whom started both legs of the 6-5 aggregate victory over Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.

Due to his reduced game time, Barola remains an outstanding player, and several clubs, including Arsenal, are now looking to poach him in the summer.

This is according to Florain Plettenberg, who claims that the north London side are looking to reinforce their attack with a new left winger and are closely monitoring Barcola as a potential option.

Barcola to Arsenal

It appears the Gunners have already made formal moves to sign him, as the transfer expert adds that the Premier League leaders have made enquiries to learn the details of a potential summer move to the Emirates.

In a boost to Arsenal, Barcola’s departure in the summer is a possibility, although they will have to battle with Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Barcelona for the France international’s signature, Plettenberg adds.

While a case could be made for creativity and chance creation among Arsenal’s current left-wing options, it can be argued that none of the current left-wing options quite match Barcola’s goal output.

He is also a direct, pacy winger who revels in one-on-one situations, can score with both feet and is also a tireless worker off the ball.

His ability to maintain the same high level of goal threat across both wings also makes him an attractive proponent for Mikel Arteta.

However, Barcola remains under contract with PSG until 2028, so Arsenal will need to make a significant offer around his £60m Transfermarkt valuation to convince the French club to sell.
