Arsenal plot swoop to sign PSG star Bradley Barcola
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola, as per TEAMtalk.
Following a disappointing defeat to Manchester City, the Gunners allowed Pep Guardiola’s side to clinch the top spot for a very brief period. However, after back-to-back victories over Newcastle United and Fulham, Mikel Arteta’s side have extended their lead at the top of the Premier League.
Still, Man City have games in hand, and if they win their remaining fixtures, they would be joint top. On the other hand, Arsenal have reached the semi-final of the Champions League and managed to come away with a 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid in the first leg.
Amid this situation, Arsenal have started exploring options to add more firepower this summer to continue challenging on all fronts next campaign.
TEAMtalk claim that Arsenal are interested in upgrading the left flank as Gabriel Martinelli has struggled to showcase his best in recent seasons. On the other hand, Leandro Trossard has been displaying inconsistent performances.
The North London club have identified Barcola as a serious option and have been made aware of the Frenchman’s current situation. He has failed to break into Luis Enrique’s starting line-up for big games; as a result, his entourage has started looking at options to find a new suitable destination for him.
However, Arsenal will have to overcome fierce competition to finalise the operation as Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Borussia Dortmund are also plotting a swoop.
Barcola to Arsenal
Barcola’s existing deal is set to run until 2028, and he is valued at around £60m by Transfermarkt. So, Les Parisiens are in a strong position to demand a huge fee if they decide to part ways with him.
Although the 23-year-old hasn’t started regularly in big games under Enrique, he has showcased his productivity, making 41 goal contributions across all competitions last term.
This season, the youngster has scored 12 goals and registered six assists. After enjoying great success last season, he has been helping his side mount another title charge this campaign. Moreover, he has helped Les Parisiens reach the Champions League semi-final.
Barcola is a right-footed left-winger and isn’t a finished article yet. He possesses the necessary physical attributes to flourish in the Premier League.
So, the PSG star would be a great coup for Arsenal should they eventually manage to secure his services by defeating other clubs in this race.
