Arsenal join race to sign Atalanta star Ederson
Arsenal have entered the race to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson next summer, according to MARCA, as relayed by TEAMtalk.
The 26-year-old has grown into one of the leading defensive midfielders in Serie A since joining Atalanta from Salernitana 1919 in July 2022.
Under former boss Gian Piero Gasperini, he became a central figure in the club’s progress, playing a key role in their consistent European qualification — most notably in the 2023–24 season, when he helped guide them to victory in the UEFA Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen.
Now working under Raffaele Palladino, the Brazilian has continued to exert a strong influence in midfield. Despite a difficult campaign that has seen Atalanta sit 19 points behind leaders Inter Milan, he has still performed at a high level, making 33 appearances across all competitions.
Such consistency has naturally attracted growing interest ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
Citing Spanish outlet MARCA, TEAMtalk reports that Arsenal have joined several Premier League clubs to express interest in Ederson.
Arsenal join Ederson race
With a lot to play for in the ongoing season, the Gunners’ sporting director, Andrea Berta, is already exploring transfer targets for next season, and a potential move for the 26-year-old could be on the horizon, as per the report.
With a year left on his contract, the report adds that Atalanta are looking to secure as much of a fee as possible from his sale and have set a £43m valuation on the Brazilian, a fee well within Arsenal’s reach.
However, the North London club are set to face a stern battle for Ederson’s signature, as the Spanish outlet adds that Premier League rivals Manchester United and Newcastle United, as well as LaLiga side Atletico Madrid, who have reportedly agreed personal terms with the 26-year-old, are all in the race to sign the midfielder.
Arsenal will return to club action on Saturday when they host Southampton in the FA Cup quarter-finals before travelling to Portugal to face Sporting CP in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
Premier League action resumes next weekend when they host Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, 11th April, in what would be a crucial, title-deciding clash, especially with second-placed Manchester City having a game in hand.
