Arsenal plan to launch swoop to sign Iliman Ndiaye
Arsenal are reportedly plotting a swoop to sign Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye, as per Football Insider.
Following a comfortable 3-1 aggregate victory over Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League last-16, the Gunners have reached the quarter-final and are set to face Portuguese champions Sporting CP next month.
Moreover, the North London club have reached the Carabao Cup final and will take on Manchester City at Wembley Stadium this weekend.
Arsenal are currently top of the Premier League table, holding a nine-point lead over second-placed Manchester City, having played a game more.
On the other hand, Mikel Arteta’s side have reached the quarter-final of the FA Cup and are set to face Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium next month.
Meaning, after nearly six years without silverware, Arsenal have the chance to complete an unprecedented quadruple under Arteta this season.
Meanwhile, although Arsenal already have a strong squad, they are seemingly planning to refresh the team in the summer to continue their momentum next season.
Ndiaye to Arsenal
Football Insider state that the Gunners are considering upgrading the left flank and have earmarked Ndiaye as a potential option.
However, the North London club will have to overcome several obstacles to seal the deal as Manchester United are also in this race, while Everton are ‘determined’ to keep hold of him, with his existing deal set to run until 2029.
After scoring only 11 goals across all competitions last term, Ndiaye has made eight goal contributions this season. So, he isn’t a prolific forward, and Arsenal aren’t fully convinced by him.
Therefore, the report claim that the Emirates club aren’t exploring the possibility of launching a formal proposal to lure him away from the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Ndiaye, valued at around £43m by Transfermarkt, is a left-winger but is also efficient on the opposite side. Arsenal currently have Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard as specialist left-wing options, while Noni Madueke can provide cover in this position if needed.
However, the Brazilian and the Belgian have struggled to showcase their best consistently this season. So, Arsenal could do with signing a new left-sided forward ahead of next season.
