Arsenal now eyeing move for Newcastle left-back Lewis Hall

Arsenal are ‘closely monitoring’ Newcastle United letting Lewis Hall ahead of a possible summer move to the Emirates Stadium, according to CaughtOffside.
Hall is one of the numerous standout performers to emerge from Chelsea’s renowned Cobham Academy. Graham Potter handed him his first-team debut on 12 November 2022 in the 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United, who later signed the youngster in 2023, initially on a loan deal before the move was made permanent.
He has since been a mainstay at the back for Eddie Howe, featuring in 94 games across all competitions for the Magpies, with his performances earning him two England call-ups.
This season, the 21-year-old has played in 23 of Newcastle’s 30 Premier League games and most recently started in the 1-0 win over his former club Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, where he impressed, making seven recoveries, 14 passes into the final third, and three clearances, and wasn’t dribbled past once despite coming up against Cole Palmer, Reece James and Malo Gusto on Chelsea’s right wing.
Such has been the level of his performances all through the campaign, and it comes as no surprise that several top clubs are now vying for his signature.
One of the clubs looking to sign Hall is Arsenal, according to CaughtOffside, which claims that the Premier League table toppers are ‘closely monitoring’ the Englishman ahead of a possible summer swoop.
Myles Lewis-Skelly replacement?
The report adds that although Mikel Arteta has several left-back options already in his squad, the 21-year-old would undoubtedly be a solid addition to improve his backline next summer.
However, the North London giants are not alone in the race for Hall, as Manchester City, Liverpool, RB Leipzig, and Borussia Dortmund are also keeping tabs on the England international, according to the report.
Amid interest from the Gunners, CaughtOffside reports that while Newcastle need to balance their books and would only entertain talks starting at £65–70m, the Tyneside club are adamant that the youngster is not for sale and are planning to offer him a new, lucrative, long-term contract.
Pierro Hincapie, Riccardo Calafiori, and Myles Lewis-Skelly are the left-back options at Arteta’s disposal. Still, Lewis-Skelly looks likely to be sold, with Arsenal ‘increasingly open’ to his departure, according to Football Insider.
As a result, a move for Hall makes sense, as he possesses the defensive solidity required to slot into Arteta’s starting lineup, as evidenced by his 2.5 tackles per 90 minutes this season, more than any other Arsenal player.
