Arsenal eye move to sign PSG forward Lee Kang-in
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain forward Lee Kang-in, as per TEAMtalk.
The Gunners currently have Eberechi Eze and Martin Odegaard as options to deploy in the creative midfield position. Moreover, Ethan Nwaneri, who is on loan at Olympique de Marseille, could be an option for this position next season if the club decide to keep him.
However, the Norwegian has struggled with fitness problems this season; as a result, he hasn’t been at his best, scoring a solitary goal in 27 appearances across all competitions.
Since moving to the Emirates Stadium from Crystal Palace, Eze has been playing regularly in the creative midfield position this season, making 13 goal contributions in all tournaments.
Now, TEAMtalk claim that Arsenal are considering signing a new No.10 in the summer and have identified Lee as a serious option. They hold a long-standing interest in the South Korean and have been monitoring his situation closely before making a potential swoop.
The player’s existing deal is set to run until 2028, and Les Parisiens are planning to hand him a fresh contract. However, he hasn’t been able to play regularly under Luis Enrique, so he isn’t in any rush to commit his long-term future at the Parc des Princes.
The PSG star is exploring other options before making the final decision, and apart from the Gunners, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Newcastle United are also keen on him.
Lee to Arsenal
Lee, valued at around £22m by Transfermarkt, is a left-footed creative midfielder by trait like Odegaard, but is also comfortable on the right flank. Moreover, he is efficient in the box-to-box role and has played in the false nine position under Enrique.
The 25-year-old has enjoyed great success at the French capital in recent years, winning every possible major competition. In 14 starts across all competitions, he has made six goal contributions this season.
Lee is a talented player and possesses the necessary attributes to flourish in Mikel Arteta’s possession-based system. So, he would be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services in the summer.
