Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Hertha Berlin midfielder Kennet Eichhorn, as per German football expert Christian Falk.

After ranking through the German side’s youth system, the 16-year-old made his first team debut earlier this season before establishing himself as a key starter.

In 14 appearances in 2. Bundesliga and DFB Pokal, he netted a solitary goal this term before sustaining an ankle problem.

Now, Falk has reported on CF Bayern Insider that after being impressed by Eichhorn’s performances in senior football at this tender age, Arsenal have registered their interest in him.

So, they could make a concrete approach to secure his service during the offseason. However, Manchester United have also expressed their interest in signing him.

Moreover, Bayern Munich don’t want to miss out on a talent like him, with the youngster considered ‘one of the biggest’ midfield talents in Germany. The Bavarian club have even held talks with the player’s representatives to persuade him to join. So, Arsenal will have to overcome stiff competition to finalise the operation.

Eichhorn has a release clause in his current contract, which is set to run until 2029. So, he is likely to leave at the end of this campaign.

Eichhorn to Arsenal

Eichhorn is a 6ft 1in tall right-footed defensive midfielder, but is also comfortable in the box-to-box role. He is quick across the ground, can play threading passes between the lines, reads the game well, and is also efficient in defensive contributions.

The German is a talented player and possesses the potential to become a top-class midfielder in the future. So, he would be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future, should they purchase him.

However, he is still very young and needs time to develop. But Arsenal need readymade players to continue challenging on all fronts. So, the Emirates Stadium might not be an ideal destination for Eichhorn to continue his development if he leaves the German capital in the summer.

Nevertheless, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are set to face Mansfield Town in the FA Cup today before taking on Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League round of 16 first leg next week.
