Arsenal face £17.2m transfer demand for Benedetti
Arsenal have once again been credited with interest in Palmeiras defender Luis Benedetti. Reports from Palmeiras Insiders, shared by Sport Witness, suggest the Gunners remain keen.
The 19-year-old centre-back has been linked with a move to the Emirates on several occasions. Club scouts are believed to admire his calm style and defensive awareness.
However, any move would require a serious offer. Palmeiras have made their stance very clear to interested clubs.
Palmeiras Stand Firm on Valuation
The Brazilian side are not prepared to sell for a fee around £8.6 million. That level has already been explored and rejected without hesitation.
Both Arsenal and Barcelona previously tested the waters with offers in that range. Palmeiras turned them down as they did not meet expectations.
The club’s board are holding out for a figure close to £17.2 million, as per the report. They believe that price matches the defender’s long-term value and growth.
Palmeiras view Benedetti as part of their wider development plan. They have no intention of letting him leave for less than their target amount.
There is also no pressure on them to complete a sale. The player is gaining regular minutes in Brazil, which only strengthens their position.
Arsenal face competition for Benedetti
Arsenal are not alone in monitoring the young defender. Italian side Como have also shown interest in securing his signature.
For Mikel Arteta’s side, the situation is simple. If they truly see Benedetti as a project for the future, they must increase their offer.
Failing to move closer to the £17.2 million valuation will likely end talks before they properly begin. Palmeiras have shown that they are willing to wait.
At just 19, Benedetti is regarded as a long-term asset. His age, potential, and steady progress make him attractive to several European clubs.
Arsenal continue to track emerging talent across South America. Benedetti fits that model, but any agreement will depend on meeting Palmeiras’ strict terms.
Unless those demands are satisfied, the North London club may have to remain patient. For now, the situation appears to be one of interest rather than active negotiation.
