Arsenal urged to seal ambitious deal to sign Bryan Mbeumo
Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit has urged his former club to sign Manchester United star Bryan Mbeumo.
The Gunners decided to sign Noni Madueke from Chelsea last summer to support Bukayo Saka. However, the Hale End graduate has failed to find the back of the net in the last 13 appearances across all competitions.
On the other hand, Madueke hasn’t been able to score in the Premier League for Arsenal thus far this season. Apart from the duo, Viktor Gyokeres, Leandro Trossard, and Gabriel Martinelli have all struggled to showcase consistency.
Meanwhile, speaking on talkSPORT, Petit was asked which player Arsenal need to sign to win the Premier League title this season. He answered without hesitation: Bryan Mbeumo.
The Frenchman backs his claim, saying the Cameroonian is an excellent player who showed his class against Arsenal last weekend by scoring a goal.
Petit said:
“Yesterday I saw exactly what I thought about this player against Arsenal, it’s Mbeumo. I think in terms of movement, he’s very intelligent. He’s got this flair in front of the goal. He’s very good in terms of assists as well. I love his work rate. I love his behaviour on the pitch, technically, mentally as well.
“But more importantly, I like his movement, the link with his players all the time. He brings something different up front. He’s not that physical, but in the meantime he puts everything he has on the pitch. But I love him because he’s very intelligent.”
Arsenal urged to sign Mbeumo
It was reported last summer that Arsenal were one of the clubs interested in signing the 26-year-old after being impressed by his performances for Brentford. However, the player opted to move to Old Trafford.
He has enjoyed a promising campaign thus far this season, making 10 goal contributions across all competitions. Moreover, the African has been helping his side mount a top-four charge.
He is a right-winger by trait, but Michael Carrick has used him as a centre-forward in the last two games against Manchester City and Arsenal, scoring in both matches.
Mbeumo is one of the best forwards in the Premier League and is currently at the prime stage of his career. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they manage to secure his services.
However, having recently moved to Old Trafford, Mbeumo still has a contract until 2030. So, it is highly unlikely that Man Utd would allow his departure this year.
