Arsenal could sign Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi this month
Arsenal could reportedly sign Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi in this winter transfer window, as per Football London.
The German side have previously been successful in signing highly talented young players at low cost before selling them for substantial fees after developing them. Jude Bellingham, Jadon Sancho, and Erling Haaland are prime examples.
BVB signed Adeyemi with similar hopes back in 2022, having been impressed by his performances for Red Bull Salzburg. He has shown glimpses of his qualities at Signal Iduna Park in recent years, but has been struggling to start regularly under Nico Kovac this season.
Still, he has made nine goal contributions in 16 starts across all competitions. Moreover, the winger has been helping his side mount a top-four charge in the Bundesliga this term.
Speculation surrounding the Germany international’s future has been emerging in recent months as he has entered the final 18 months of his current contract.
Now, Football London report that despite splashing big money last summer, Arsenal could be ready to invest more this month to help Mikel Arteta win the Premier League title this season.
The Gunners could look to upgrade the wide forward position and may make a move for Adeyemi before the February 2nd transfer deadline.
Adeyemi to Arsenal
Adeyemi is a left-footed versatile winger, as he is comfortable on either flank. He is blisteringly quick, can dribble past opposing defenders in tight areas, and is also efficient in creating opportunities for his fellow attackers.
Arsenal currently have Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke as options on the right wing, while Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard are left-wingers. However, Martinelli has struggled to showcase his best in the Premier League this season, although he has been productive in the cup competitions thus far.
On the other hand, Trossard has entered his 30s, and his existing deal is set to run until the end of next season. So, Arsenal could do with reinforcing the left flank.
Adeyemi, valued at around £52m by Transfermarkt, is a talented player and possesses high potential. He isn’t a finished article yet and has plenty of time to develop.
Therefore, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they eventually manage to secure his service in January for a reasonable fee.
