Arsenal to make ‘serious’ move to sign Ousmane Dembele
Arsenal are reportedly planning to make a ‘serious’ move to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembele, as per a recent report.
The 28-year-old pretty much single-handedly guided Les Parisiens to win the treble last term, scoring 33 goals and registering 13 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions.
Moreover, he helped his side reach the final of the Club World Cup last summer before losing to Chelsea. The attacker made three goal contributions in five matches in this tournament.
As a result, he won the Ballon d’Or. However, he has struggled with fitness problems thus far this season, and despite being fit and ready in recent times, Luis Enrique hasn’t always given him a start.
The former Barcelona forward has only commenced four matches in the Champions League and Ligue 1 combined this season, making eight goal contributions in all tournaments.
Now, as per a recent report (via TEAMtalk), Dembele has become frustrated with how Enrique has used him so far this season despite being declared fit, and is currently ‘unsettled’ at the Parc des Princes. So, he could push for a move away from PSG in order to play more regularly.
Mikel Arteta is keen on purchasing a new versatile forward who can provide cover on the left flank and centrally, and Arsenal have identified Dembele as an ‘excellent’ option.
Dembele to Arsenal
The Gunners hold a long-standing interest in the French international and are planning to make a ‘serious’ move to secure his service by taking advantage of his current situation at PSG.
Arsenal are seen as a ‘perfect fit’ for the attacker, who is valued at around £87m by Transfermarkt. However, with Dembele still having a contract until 2028, PSG aren’t in any rush to sell him in January or next summer.
Although Arsenal are looking at a left-sided forward who can also play as a striker, someone like Leandro Trossard, Dembélé is naturally a right winger but is also comfortable playing centrally. He doesn’t often play on the opposite side.
Nevertheless, the PSG star is one of the best players in the world and would be a great coup for the North London club should they eventually manage to purchase him next year.
