Arsenal step up watch on Milan teen Bartesaghi
Italian journalist Carlo Pellegatti has confirmed Arsenal interest in AC Milan defender Davide Bartesaghi.
He shared the update on his YouTube channel, raising fresh talk around the young defender, as relayed by Milan News.
Arsenal are said to be following the 19 year old closely as his progress continues in Italy.
Bartesaghi has quietly built a strong profile at Milan despite his young age. His calm displays and steady growth have not gone unnoticed across Europe this season.
Pellegatti admitted concern that English clubs are now watching the situation closely. He suggested Arsenal are leading the chase among teams from the Premier League.
“What’s worrying me today is the Bartesaghi situation,” Pellegatti explained during his show.
“because I’ve read that English teams, Arsenal above all, are closely monitoring Bartesaghi.”
Growing concern inside Milan
The journalist hinted that Milan may struggle to keep the defender if offers arrive. Strong bids from England often place Italian clubs under heavy pressure to sell.
Pellegatti spoke about the pull of large transfer fees and future profit. He feels that could sway Milan’s decision if the interest turns serious.
“My fear is that if English sirens were to go off about Bartesaghi, with the potential capital gain, the temptation would be too strong”
Bartesaghi has already gained valuable first team experience this season. He has made 13 senior appearances for Milan across league and cup matches.
Despite playing mainly in defence, he has also contributed going forward. The teenager has scored two goals and provided one assist for the Rossoneri.
Those numbers have added to his rising reputation around Europe. Many clubs value defenders who can offer more than just solid defending.
Another key factor is his ability to play in more than one role. Bartesaghi is comfortable as a left back and can also operate at centre back.
This flexibility is something Mikel Arteta values highly in his squad.
