Arsenal reportedly remain ‘firmly interested’ in signing Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes, as per TEAMtalk.

Since moving to the Estadio Bernabéu from Santos, the 24-year-old has enjoyed great success, winning every major trophy possible.

However, since Kylian Mbappe’s arrival last year, the Brazilian has lost importance in Los Blancos’ starting line-up. He has even found himself on the periphery thus far this season.

He started the last two matches in the Champions League and La Liga against Manchester City and Deportivo Alavés, scoring in both games.

As Rodrygo’s future is uncertain at Real Madrid, he has been linked with a move away over the last few months. It was reported last summer that he might leave, and Arsenal were interested in him, but a move eventually didn’t come to fruition.

Now, TEAMtalk claim that Arsenal made contact to sign Rodrygo last summer, and although they couldn’t buy him before the deadline, they remain ‘firmly interested’ in him.

The player could even push to force a move away from Real Madrid to play regularly and develop his career. His existing deal is set to run until 2028, and he is valued at around £53m by Transfermarkt. So, the Spanish giants are unlikely to let him leave for cheap.

Rodrygo to Arsenal

Rodrygo is a left-winger by trait but has featured as a right-winger for Real Madrid, as Vinicius Junior has been the undisputed starter on the left. Additionally, the former Santos star is comfortable in the creative midfield and false nine role if needed.

Arsenal decided to reinforce the right flank by purchasing Noni Madueke last summer, but they could do with upgrading the opposite side, as Gabriel Martinelli has struggled to showcase his best in the Premier League. On the other hand, Leandro Trossard is edging closer to the twilight of his career.

Despite Rodrygo’s recent struggles at Real Madrid, he is still considered one of the best young players in the world. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services next year.
