Arsenal keeping tabs on Bournemouth star Semenyo
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing AFC Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo, as per Sky Sports.
The forward started this season impressively, making nine goal contributions in the first seven Premier League appearances. However, he went through a lean patch over the last few weeks before breaking his duck against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday night.
Now, Sky Sports report that the Ghanaian has placed himself on the radar of several big English clubs following his recent eye-catching performances.
Man Utd, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are all keen on securing his services; however, Arsenal are in this race as well and have been keeping a close eye on his situation before making a potential swoop in January.
The 25-year-old extended his deal at Vitality Stadium until 2030 in the summer, but he has a £65m release clause, which can be triggered next month.
Having already got Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, Noni Madueke and Bukayo Saka, Arsenal aren’t prioritising signing a new marquee winger at the moment. Instead, Man Utd, Tottenham and Man City are showing the most concrete interest in sealing the deal in January.
Bournemouth ideally don’t want to part ways with Semenyo, who won’t be playing in AFCON as Ghana haven’t been able to qualify, but they wouldn’t be able to keep hold of him if any of his potential suitors trigger his release clause.
Semenyo to Arsenal
Semenyo is comfortable with both feet and can provide cover on either flank. He is quick, strong, good in the air and has improved his finishing abilities this season.
He is a Premier League-proven player and could be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him. As Martinelli has struggled to showcase consistency and Leandro Trossard has entered his 30s, Mikel Arteta’s side could do with upgrading the left flank.
Nevertheless, it is going to be interesting to see where the Bournemouth star ends up if he eventually leaves Vitality Stadium in January or next summer.
Meanwhile, Arsenal will travel to the Hill Dickinson Stadium to take on Everton in the Premier League on Saturday night before taking on Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup next week.
