Pundit lauds Madueke after strong display vs Club Brugge

By on December 12, 2025

Former forward turned pundit Chris Sutton has heaped praise on Arsenal star Noni Madueke following his ‘really well’ performance against Club Brugge in the Champions League in midweek.

After Bukayo Saka’s lengthy injury absence last term, the Gunners decided to sign the 23-year-old from Chelsea last summer to add depth on the right flank.

Although Madueke has had fitness problems this season, he has showcased his qualities whenever he has played.

The youngster hasn’t been able to find the back of the net in the Premier League yet, but has scored three goals in the Champions League, including a brace against Club Brugge last time out. Madueke’s other goal came against Bayern Munich.

Now, speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day(via Metro), Sutton heaps praise on Madueke for his ‘really well’ display vs Club Brugge and says that the forward didn’t just score a brace, he was impactful throughout the game. So, he is ready to provide cover whenever needed.

Madueke has turned out to be a ‘really smart’ acquisition for Arsenal, while his departure has been a big loss for Chelsea.

Pundit lauds Madueke

Sutton said:

“It wasn’t just with his goals that Noni Madueke made an impact, he did really well throughout the game and showed he is ready to do a job when he is called upon. Madueke looks like a really smart signing.

“I already thought he was a loss to Chelsea, but you are seeing now he is back from injury that Arsenal can have Saka off that right side, or use him – it bodes really well for them with such a busy period coming up.

“Madueke was a constant threat off that right-hand side tonight. He likes to come inside and get shots off, and got the second goal by attacking the far post too, which pretty much sealed the game.”

Arsenal’s victory over Club Brugge means they keep their 100% record in the Champions League this season, winning six out of six matches. They have conceded only once in this tournament, which was against Bayern Munich.

This was an important win, especially given that they lost to Aston Villa in the Premier League last weekend. Now, Mikel Arteta’s side will take on struggling Wolverhampton Wanderers in the league on Saturday.

Wolves have been displaying woeful performances this season, languishing at the bottom of the table with just two points from 15 matches.

They will be coming into this game off the back of a 4-1 defeat against Manchester United. So, Arsenal should come away with all three points from this fixture easily.
