Arsenal make contact to sign Juventus star Kenan Yildiz
Arsenal have reportedly made contact to sign Juventus forward Kenan Yildiz, as per a recent report.
Following Manchester City’s victory over Fulham in the Premier League, the Gunners saw their lead at the top of the table cut to just two points. However, having defeated Brentford last night, Mikel Arteta’s side have restored their five-point cushion.
Arsenal have now accumulated 33 points from 14 matches, but they face a stern test on Saturday lunchtime when they travel to Villa Park to take on Aston Villa.
Unai Emery’s side have won their last eight out of nine games, sitting third in the table, just a point shy of the Citizens. Failing to win this fixture would allow Pep Guardiola’s side to close the gap if they beat Sunderland this weekend.
Meanwhile, despite spending big money last summer, Arsenal are seemingly planning to add further depth to the squad with the winter window just around the corner.
Spanish outlet Fichajes report that with Leandro Trossard set to turn 32 next year, Arsenal are looking to sign a young forward as a potential long-term replacement for the Belgian.
Arsenal are keen on signing Yildiz and have already made contact with the player’s representatives to persuade him to join. Although the player still has three and a half years left in his current contract, Juventus want to hand him a fresh term with a salary hike.
Yildiz to Arsenal
However, an agreement hasn’t been reached yet, and the negotiations have stalled at the moment. So, Arsenal are planning to seal the deal by taking advantage of this situation.
If Juventus couldn’t tie Yildiz down to a fresh term, they might be open to letting him leave, with the forward valued at around £65m by Transfermarkt.
Yildiz is a simple profile to Trossard, as he is a technically gifted left-sided forward who is also comfortable centrally if needed. In 18 appearances across all competitions, he has made 10 goal contributions thus far this season.
Yildiz is considered one of the best young players in Serie A and could be a great coup for Arsenal should they eventually manage to lure him to the Emirates Stadium in January or next summer.
