Arsenal plan to launch swoop to sign Serhou Guirassy
Arsenal are reportedly planning to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy, as per Caught Offside.
The 29-year-old has been in tremendous goal-scoring form in the Bundesliga over the last few seasons. In the 2023/24 campaign, he made 33 goal contributions for Stuttgart across all competitions, helping his side finish second in the German top-flight ahead of Bayern Munich.
Having been impressed by his performances, Dortmund decided to purchase him last year. In his debut season at Signal Iduna Park, the forward scored 34 goals and registered six assists in all competitions.
He even netted four goals in five matches in the Club World Cup last summer. This season, Guirassy has scored seven goals and notched up three assists in 15 appearances in all competitions.
Now, Caught Offside claim that Guirassy has attracted Arsenal’s attention with his clinical finishing abilities, so they could make a concrete approach to secure his services next year.
The Guinea international has a contract until 2028 and has a £44m release clause, which can be triggered by an unspecified select group of elite clubs. The clause can even be triggered in the upcoming winter window.
However, purchasing the African won’t be straightforward for the North London club as Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are also plotting a swoop for him.
Guirassy to Arsenal
Following Benjamin Sesko’s recent knee injury, Man Utd are looking for a new striker as Joshua Zirkzee could leave, having struggled to find regular game time this season.
On the other hand, PSG want a new striker as they are looking to fill the void of Randal Kolo Muani, who was allowed to join Tottenham Hotspur last summer.
Arsenal decided to reinforce the striker position by signing Viktor Gyokeres last summer. However, Gabriel Jesus has continued to struggle with fitness problems, and Kai Havertz has also had injury issues this year, so Mikel Arteta is seemingly planning to add more firepower in the No.9 position.
Guirassy is an experienced player with a proven track record of scoring goals. Therefore, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to lure him to the Emirates Stadium next year.
