Arsenal making ‘serious moves’ to sign Rafael Leao

By on November 13, 2025

Arsenal are reportedly making ‘serious moves’ to sign AC Milan forward Rafael Leao, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.

Since moving to San Siro Stadium from LOSC Lille, the Portuguese international has established himself as one of the best forwards in Serie A, winning a Scudetto title and a Supercoppa Italiana.

The 26-year-old has enjoyed a bright start this season, scoring five goals and notching up a solitary assist in eight appearances across all competitions.

Now, Fichajes state that Arsenal are planning to revamp the attacking department next year and have identified Leao as the ‘ideal candidate’. The Gunners are even prepared to cash-in on Gabriel Martinelli to make room for the AC Milan star’s arrival.

The Brazilian has been a key player for Arsenal over the last few years. However, he displayed average performances last term; as a consequence of that, the 24-year-old has mainly featured as a rotational option thus far this season.

But this role has brought the best of him, scoring four goals and registering an assist. However, he recently picked up an injury and has been sidelined for the last few games.

Leao to Arsenal

The Spanish report state that Arsenal have already intensified their efforts to sign Leao, and the Portuguese could be open to moving to the Premier League.

The forward has a contract until 2028 with Milan and has a £132m release clause. However, the Rossoneri would be open to letting him leave for a reduced fee and are prepared to accept at least £70m.

Apart from the North London club, Chelsea, Manchester City, and several Ligue 1 clubs are also interested in him. So, he isn’t short of potential suitors at the moment.

With Martinelli’s existing deal set to expire in 2027, selling him next year would be the right decision if Arsenal do not extend his deal.

Leao is an explosive winger and can be unstoppable on his day. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal if they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Emirates club eventually manage to seal the deal by defeating other clubs in this race.
