Arsenal plot swoop to sign RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande
Arsenal are reportedly planning to make a move to sign RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande, as per transfer journalist Graeme Bailey.
After joining Leganés in January of this year, the 18-year-old displayed glimpses of his high potential in La Liga during the second half of last campaign.
Having been impressed by the Ivorian, the German side decided to purchase him last summer. The youngster has enjoyed a stellar start this season, scoring three goals and registering two assists in six starts across all competitions.
Now, on TBR Football, Bailey says that following Diomande’s recent impressive performances, several big clubs around Europe have started noticing him.
Arsenal have expressed their interest in him and have been following his development before making a potential swoop. The forward still has five years left in his current contract, having recently joined Leipzig, and he doesn’t have any release clause. So, Leipzig are in a strong position to demand a big fee if they are forced to cash-in and want up to £88m.
The journalist claims that apart from Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur are the other English clubs in this race.
Diomande to Arsenal
On the other hand, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain are also plotting a swoop to secure his service.
Diomande is a right-footed left-winger, and it has been reported since the summer transfer window that the Gunners want a new left-sided forward.
Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli are the options Arsenal currently have for this position. However, the Brazilian has sustained an injury and has been sidelined in recent weeks.
Moreover, Noni Madueke, Gabriel Jesus, and Eberechi Eze are also capable of providing cover in the LW position. However, Jesus has continued to struggle with fitness problems, and Madueke has sustained a knee problem, having joined from Chelsea last summer.
Therefore, Arsenal could do with purchasing a new left-winger next year, and Diomande could be a shrewd acquisition with a view to the long-term future.
However, the African is still very young and needs time to develop his career. So, he might not be the ideal option for Arsenal to immediately help them achieve their lofty ambitions if they purchase him in January or next year.
