Arsenal are reportedly ‘considering’ making a surprise swoop to sign Marcus Rashford, as per Caught Offside.

After ranking through Manchester United’s youth system, the 28-year-old established himself as a talismanic figure for the Red Devils. He even displayed his best performances for his boyhood club during the 2022/23 campaign.

However, after receiving a lucrative long-term contract, his performance level dropped massively. Under Ruben Amorim, Rashford found himself out of favour last term, so United decided to let him join Aston Villa on a loan deal in January.

The forward even showcased glimpses of his qualities at Villa Park. However, following their failure to secure Champions League football, Rashford opted not to join Unai Emery’s side permanently.

United wanted to sell him last summer, but he made it clear that he desired to join Barcelona, and they couldn’t afford to seal the deal permanently.

Eventually, the 28-year-old signed for the Blaugrana on a season-long loan deal. He has enjoyed a promising start this term, scoring six goals and registering five assists in 14 appearances across all competitions.

Rashford to Arsenal

Now, Caught Offside claim that having been impressed by Rashford, Barcelona are prepared to purchase him permanently by paying around £26m next year.

However, agreeing on personal terms with him could be difficult as he is currently on a high wage at Man Utd and the Blaugrana can’t match it amid their financial difficulties.

So, Arsenal are considering signing Rashford if he wishes to return to the Premier League and have been monitoring his situation closely before making a potential swoop.

However, purchasing the England international won’t be straightforward for the North London club as Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Juventus, and Inter Milan are also keen on him.

Arsenal reportedly wanted to buy a new left-sided forward last summer. They eventually opted to sign Eberechi Eze, and it was thought that he was the option for the left wing.

However, he has been featuring as a CAM amid Martin Odegaard’s injury absence. So, it appears Arteta is looking for a new left winger next year, and Rashford could be a shrewd acquisition should Arsenal eventually manage to secure his services.
