Arsenal are already working on plans for the January transfer window and have placed Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo on their shortlist.
Reports from Fichajes claim the Gunners see an opportunity to take advantage of his current situation at the La Liga side.
The Japanese international has endured an inconsistent start to the campaign, which has raised questions about his future at the club.
Kubo is 24-year-old is believed to be unsettled due to the lack of squad depth at Real Sociedad.
This issue has left him frustrated, and the possibility of a new challenge elsewhere is now being considered.
Arsenal are aware of this discontent and are ready to test the waters in the January market, as per the report.
They view Kubo as another exciting addition to a squad that already contains several young and talented players.
The North London club have had success in signing players from Real Sociedad in recent years.
Midfielders Martin Zubimendi and Mikel Merino are two examples of such moves that strengthened the team.
Adding Kubo would increase Arsenal’s attacking options and bring more creativity to their wide areas.
Transfer fee and negotiation challenges
The report suggests Arsenal are willing to table an offer close to £39 million for Kubo.
However, the winger’s release clause is set at around £52 million, which complicates the potential deal.
The situation is further affected by Real Madrid, who still hold 50 percent of the rights to a future sale.
This means any transfer fee would be split, leaving Sociedad with less financial gain unless the clause is fully met.
Analysts believe that Kubo’s unhappiness at the Basque club could still force a breakthrough.
If he pushes for an exit, the pressure may allow Arsenal to strike a deal below the release clause.
This approach would fit Arsenal’s market strategy, where they look to benefit from unsettled situations at rival clubs.
Kubo is valued not only for his technical ability but also for the timing of the opportunity.
Arsenal see him as a player who can lift their Premier League challenge by adding depth and fresh energy.
