Arsenal to make ‘official move’ to sign Luis Benedetti

By on September 4, 2025

Arsenal are reportedly planning to make an ‘official move’ to sign Palmeiras youngster Luis Benedetti in January, as per Caught Offside.

The Brazilian giants have been producing top-level young players in recent times, with Estevao Willian, Endrick, Victor Reis, Richard Rios, and Gabriel Jesus some of the notable names.

They recently sold Estevao and Reis to Chelsea and Manchester City, respectively. Now, they already have the next gem in their pipeline with Benedetti attracting a lot of attention.

Caught Offside claim that Arsenal are interested in the 19-year-old and have been monitoring his development closely in recent times. He was linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer, but they opted not to make a concrete approach.

However, the Gunners are planning to make an ‘official move’ to secure his service in the upcoming winter window. The defender still has more than four years left in his current contract at Palmeiras, so Arsenal will have to spend ‘multi-million’ euros to get the deal done.

Purchasing Benedetti won’t be straightforward for Arsenal, as Barcelona are also keen on him, while Greek giants Olympiacos are in this race as well.

Benedetti to Arsenal

After ranking through Palmeiras’ youth system, the youngster made his first-team debut earlier this year. The youngster is a 6ft 6in tall towering center-back and is comfortable playing out from the back.

Moreover, he is good in the air, has an eye for long-range passing, and is efficient in defensive contributions. The South American is a highly talented player and could be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future should they purchase him.

The Gunners used to search for players in the Brazilian market when Edu Gasper was the sporting director. However, they haven’t signed many players from South America since his departure. Now, Andrea Berta is looking to revive their search in Brazil.

After becoming Arsenal’s new sporting director, Berta has had a pretty successful summer window, signing eight new players by spending around £270m. So, Arteta doesn’t have any more excuses to not guide the club to win big silverware this season.
