Arsenal could make late attempt to sign Ademola Lookman

By on August 20, 2025

Arsenal could reportedly attempt to sign Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman, as per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Since moving to Gewiss Stadium from RB Leipzig back in 2022, the 27-year-old has enjoyed a stellar time in Serie A over the last few years. He helped his side win the Europa League title in the 2023/24 season and guided them to qualify for the Champions League by finishing in the top three in Serie A last term.

He showcased his productivity last campaign, scoring 20 goals and registering six assists in 40 appearances across all competitions. The forward is even considered one of the best forwards in the Italian top flight.

Lookman was heavily linked with a move away from La Dea last summer; however, the Italian side managed to keep hold of him. His future has been a subject of speculation in this summer window as well.

Now, on his YouTube channel, Romano says that Inter Milan were interested in signing the Nigerian, and the player prioritised moving to the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium.

However, the Nerazzurri have decided not to buy him after failing to agree on a deal in principle with Atalanta. So, Lookman’s future remains uncertain with his existing deal set to run until 2027.

Lookman to Arsenal

Arsenal reportedly want a new left-winger and could make a move for the Atalanta star later in this window, but they’ll only look at him should Leandro Trossard eventually leave.

The Belgian’s existing deal with the Gunners will expire at the end of this season, and he has been linked with a move away, with Borussia Dortmund and Aston Villa interested in him.

Lookman is a versatile forward as he is comfortable playing in the left wing and second striker roles. Moreover, he can provide cover in the CAM position if needed.

Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move to sign Rodrygo Goes and Eberechi Eze to bolster the frontline. But Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on a deal to sign Eze, while Manchester City are plotting a swoop to sign Rodrygo.

Therefore, if the Gunners eventually fail to sign Rodrygo or Eze, purchasing an experienced player like Lookman might not be a bad decision.
