Arsenal conduct ‘due diligence’ to sign Alejandro Garnacho
Arsenal have reportedly conducted ‘due diligence’ on Manchester United outcast Alejandro Garnacho, as per the Manchester Evening News.
The Gunners have reinforced the frontline by signing Viktor Gyokeres and Noni Madueke this summer, but Mikel Arteta wants a new left-winger before the end of this transfer window.
Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium. However, Tottenham Hotspur have stepped up their efforts to sign the England international.
Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes has also been a subject of attention from Arsenal, but Manchester City have entered the fray to secure his service.
Now, the MEN claim that Arsenal are interested in Garnacho and have done due diligence on him. Apart from the Gunners, Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid have also explored the possibility of signing him.
However, Arsenal have decided to go for other names, while the Lilywhites and Los Rojiblancos have also done the same. Chelsea are currently leading the race to buy the South American.
Garnacho to Arsenal
The 21-year-old is valued at around £39m by Transfermarkt and still has three years left in his current contract. Therefore, Man Utd are expected to demand a big fee to let him leave.
Garnacho is a left-winger by trait but is also comfortable on the opposite side. He is a talented player and possesses high potential; however, after falling out with Ruben Amorim, he has been placed on the chopping block by United.
Arsenal have established themselves as a title contender under Mikel Arteta’s guidance, and they need readymade players to achieve their lofty ambitions.
Although Garnacho might be a good option with a view to the long-term future, having already got Gabriel Martinelli, Arsenal don’t need a similar type of player.
Eze or Rodrygo would be a great coup for Arsenal, but as it stands, purchasing either of them would be extremely difficult. It is going to be interesting to see who Arsenal eventually sign to strengthen the left side of the attack.
Meanwhile, the North London club will commence their Premier League campaign with a tough away fixture against Man Utd on Sunday afternoon.
