Arsenal handed major lift in chase for Eze
Arsenal’s hopes of signing Eberechi Eze have improved, with Aston Villa reportedly keen on securing Leandro Trossard, according to Football Transfers.
The Gunners have admired Eze for much of the summer but are waiting to sell players before moving for a new left winger.
Trossard’s potential departure could create the space needed to complete a deal for the Crystal Palace star.
Trossard, 30, joined Arsenal from Brighton and Hove Albion in a £27 million deal.
He has been a valuable part of Mikel Arteta’s squad, often sharing duties with Gabriel Martinelli on the left flank.
Decision rests with Trossard as Villa circle
Villa are seeking to strengthen their attacking options and have approached Trossard regarding a transfer, as per the report.
The Belgian has been told that the final decision over his future will rest with him.
It is understood that Villa made a similar enquiry in January while Arsenal were discussing a new contract with the player. No significant progress came from those talks at the time.
If Trossard decides to join Villa, it would free Arsenal to push ahead with their pursuit of Eze. The Palace midfielder is believed to be open to a move to the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal value Trossard at around £18 million, an amount well within Villa’s budget, according to the report.
The Birmingham side are expected to have funds available following Jacob Ramsey’s imminent big-money transfer to Newcastle United. Interest in Leon Bailey could also boost their budget further.
Trossard is considering multiple offers from different clubs. Villa’s approach has been described as serious, with Unai Emery eager to add Premier League experience to his squad.
Eze remains high on Arsenal’s list of attacking targets. His creativity and ability to play across midfield have made him a key figure in Palace’s plans.
However, the north London side are determined to manage their squad numbers before committing to a major signing.
With Villa pushing for Trossard and Arsenal prepared to sanction his sale at the right price, the pathway for Eze’s arrival is becoming clearer.
