Arsenal are reportedly considering a move for Lyon winger Malick Fofana, according to reports from Football London.

Mikel Arteta’s side continue to shape their squad for the 2025/26 season. The Gunners have enjoyed a busy summer transfer window.

Six new players have already arrived, including Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyökeres, who will add more firepower to the attack.

Despite these signings, Arsenal are still searching for a new left winger to provide Arteta with another option on the flank.

This comes after Gabriel Martinelli struggled to find consistent form in recent campaigns.

Arsenal’s search for a winger continues

The North London club have been linked to several wide players in recent months.

Eberechi Eze and Rodrygo Goes have both been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.

However, both men are now being tipped to join rival clubs. Tottenham are pushing to sign Eze while Man City are reportedly keen on Rodrygo.

As a result, Arsenal could turn their attention to Fofana. Football London suggests the Gunners could pursue a deal for Fofana before the transfer window closes.

The 20-year-old has impressed for Lyon since breaking into the first team. Last season, he scored 11 goals and provided six assists across all competitions.

Fofana’s value and potential move

Transfermarkt currently value the Belgian at around £26 million. That figure could be within reach for Arsenal, especially if they choose to prioritise a winger.

His performances in Ligue 1 have caught the eye of many top clubs so Arsenal would face competition if they do formalise their interest.

Fofana’s pace, direct style, and ability to contribute in the final third have made him a key player for Lyon.

Journalist IndyKaila has also hinted at Arsenal’s interest in bringing the youngster to the Premier League.

According to the report, Arsenal are not the sole club tracking Fofana. The journalist also points to Liverpool’s interest, highlighting the winger’s growing reputation.

His performances have drawn attention from several European sides, with Nottingham Forest and Everton also reportedly keen.

It remains to be seen whether the Gunners will make an official approach.

Arsenal begin their Premier League campaign on 17 August with a trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.

Arteta will hope to have his squad complete before the opening match.
