Arsenal hold talks to re-sign Crystal Palace star Eze
Arsenal have reportedly held talks with Crystal Palace over a deal to re-sign Eberechi Eze, as per The Guardian.
The Gunners have strengthened most of the key positions they aimed to improve before the start of the summer window. Viktor Gyokeres has been purchased for the centre-forward position, while Noni Madueke has joined to support Bukayo Saka.
Mikel Arteta’s side have revamped the engine room following Thomas Partey and Jorginho’s departure by signing Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard.
Furthermore, they have bought Cristhian Mosquera to add depth on the right side of the centre-back position, and Kepa Arrizabalaga has joined to support David Raya. Overall, the North London club have spent around £200m thus far.
However, The Guardian claim that Arsenal haven’t finished their spending spree just yet as they are willing to buy another forward and Eze is their priority.
They have already held talks with the Eagles over this deal and have also done the same with the player’s representatives, with the forward ‘keen’ on returning to the Emirates Stadium, where he was released at a very young age.
The 27-year-old has a £60m release clause in his current contract, and the clause can be paid in installments, plus there are bonuses worth around £7.5m. His release clause will be active until the start of next season, but the South London club won’t let him leave for anything less than that sum.
Eze to Arsenal
Oliver Glasner’s side have already made Arsenal know that they will have to pay £35m in advance to get the deal done. Eze joined Crystal Palace from QPR, and they have a 15% sell-on clause.
Having already splashed big money this summer, Arsenal are looking to offload a few fringe players who aren’t in Mikel Arteta’s plan. Leandro Trossard has attracted attention from Borussia Dortmund, while Reiss Nelson is on Fulham’s wishlist. Moreover, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Albert Sambi Lokonga, and Fabio Vieira are also set to leave.
Eze is an experienced Premier League-proven player and is comfortable playing in the CAM as well as the left flank positions. He has just turned 27 and is currently at the perfect stage of his career to take the next step in his career.
Therefore, he might be an excellent acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him.
