Liverpool Ready to Make Bold Move for Vinicius Jr
Liverpool is reportedly ready to make a huge €130 million (£113 million) offer for Vinicius Junior if Luis Diaz leaves Anfield this summer.
The Reds have already spent heavily during this transfer window, bringing in Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, and two new backup goalkeepers (Freddie Woodman and Armin Pecsi). After winning the Premier League in his first season, Arne Slot is fully backed by the club’s board in the transfer market.
However, before more signings can happen, Liverpool might need to deal with some possible departures. Luis Diaz, Ibrahima Konate, and Darwin Nunez have all been linked with moves away. Diaz is reportedly a target for Bayern Munich, after Barcelona dropped out due to his high price. Liverpool has so far turned down all offers for the Colombian international.
But now, reports suggest that if Diaz leaves, Liverpool will try to bring in Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr as his replacement.
Earlier this year, it seemed like the Brazilian winger was close to agreeing to a new contract with Real Madrid, possibly lasting until 2029 or even 2030. However, months have passed and no deal has been signed. According to the Daily Mail, Vinicius’ future at Madrid is uncertain, especially with new manager Xabi Alonso reportedly unimpressed by his recent performances.
Despite his powerful and dominating presence in the team, Vinicius Jr managed just 11 goals in 24 games under Carlo Ancelotti last season, adapting up front with the introduction of Kylian Mbappe who has since been the main man at the Spanish Capital. Following the change in management, a move seems even more possible than before. Vinicius seems to be having an even harder time adapting to Xavi Alonso’s style. He managed a goal and an assist in 6 games under the former Leverkusen boss at the just concluded 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
The 2023/24 Ballon d’Or runner-up has also been a long-time target for Saudi Pro League clubs and reports say he met with the League’s vice president, Saad Al Lazeez, in 2023 to discuss a possible move. But it is impossible to predict if the Brazilian star would make this switch being young and in his prime and a contender for Europe’s highest individual prize – The Ballon d’Or.
Now, Spanish outlets claim that Liverpool has offered €100 million upfront, with another €30 million in bonuses for Vinicius. The move would go ahead only if Diaz is sold. The 25-year-old Brazilian winger is valued at over €170 million and getting a deal with the Spanish giants will be more difficult.
Real Madrid still plan to renew Vinicius’ contract and have no intention of selling him. But with no agreement in place yet, Vinicius could gain more power in negotiations moving forward. Ibrahima Konate who has recently offered himself to Los Blancos following their need for more experienced defenders might be included in the deal if the motion pushes forward.
Liverpool Intensify Ekitike Chase Amid Newcastle Interest: Rodrygo Chase Proves Futile
Liverpool is pushing harder to sign Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt after learning Rodrygo would prefer a move to Arsenal if he leaves Spanish giants Real Madrid this summer. Arne Slot’s side has learned the value of the talented striker and would now have to take a more serious stance with Newcastle luring and pursuing a deal soon. Both clubs have now been given the green light to make their move for the talented striker.
Rodrygo is now open to leaving Real Madrid this summer and if he does, he wants to join Arsenal. The Brazilian had previously been unwilling to leave, but a meeting with the club is expected soon to discuss his future. Reports suggest Rodrygo would only agree to leave if he has a say in choosing his next club, and Arsenal is currently his top choice. This is disappointing news for Liverpool, who are also interested in him and even tried to sign him back in 2017.
The Reds have now turned to Ekitike after deciding not to go ahead with their initial top choice, Alexander Isak, whose price was too high. Frankfurt has also set a steep asking price of £86 million for Ekitike, which initially put Liverpool off. However, there is a growing belief that Frankfurt will lower their demands to make sure the striker is sold.
Liverpool, Arsenal, and Newcastle have shown continued interest in his services after Chelsea, who seemed to have the upper hand a few weeks ago, failed to meet the German side’s demands and went on to sign Brighton’s João Pedro.
23-year-old Ekitike plays for France’s Under-21 team and had a brilliant season with Frankfurt – scoring 22 goals and providing 12 assists in 48 games. Frankfurt’s recent signing of Jonathan Burkardt, a possible replacement for Ekitike, has only fuelled speculation that he’s on his way out.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that Liverpool is actively working on a deal but needs to sell or loan out their record-signing Darwin Nunez first. Newcastle’s growing interest is pushing Liverpool to act quickly.
Liverpool’s sporting director Richard Hughes and his team have reportedly told Frankfurt that they are ready to begin official talks. Ekitike himself is said to be very excited about the chance to join Liverpool, where he will most likely become a starting striker with Darwin out of favour and the now demised Diego Jota. That may not be the case at Newcastle, where Alexander Isak is the clear first choice and the team rarely plays two strikers. Arsenal on the other hand has failed to sign Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko and may be looking into Ekitike as the new center forward. The only issue for the Gunners was Frankfurt’s asking price. The key for Liverpool now is to sell Nunez and move fast to sign Ekitike, who was widely praised for his performances last season.
If a deal is reached, Ekitike would become another big-name addition to Liverpool’s summer signings, which already include Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez.
Ekitike is known for his speed, strength, and sharp finishing – qualities that have made him one of the most in-demand young forwards in Europe. Former many-game Legends have praised his talent calling him the next big thing, a complete striker who has the potential to become one of the very best. Erik’s is technically good, links up well, good header, and finishes well – the perfect centre forward. When France played England’s Under-21 team recently, he scored a hat-trick. That tells you the level he’s at and why Arne Slot’s side is in dire need of his services.
