Arsenal ‘keen’ on signing Atalanta star Ademola Lookman

By on July 3, 2025

Arsenal are reportedly ‘keen’ on signing Atalanta star Ademola Lookman, as per Italian outlet Corriere della Sera.

Since moving to Gewiss Stadium from RB Leipzig back in 2022, the 27-year-old has established himself as a talismanic figure for La Dea. He guided his team to win the Europa League in the 2023/24 season and even scored a hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen in the final.

The Nigerian showcased his goal-scoring prowess last season as well, netting 20 times and registering six assists in 40 appearances in all competitions. He even helped his side qualify for the Champions League by finishing in the top three in Serie A.

Now, while citing and translating the print version of Corriere della Sera, Sport Witness state that having proven his worth in the Italian top flight, Lookman is willing to leave to take the next step in his career, and Arsenal are ‘keen’ on signing him.

It’s always difficult to sign top players from Atalanta as they slap a huge price tag on their stars’ heads to keep the vultures away. They want £52m to sell Lookman with his existing deal set to run until 2027.

However, Arsenal don’t want to spend that much and are ready to splash around £43m, including bonuses. So, there is currently a gap in valuation between the two clubs, but a compromise could be reached with both sides meeting in the middle.

Lookman to Arsenal

Lookman is a left winger by trait, but showcased his best as a SS or left CAM role in Gian Piero Gasperini’s back-three system.

Arsenal are willing to bolster the left side of the attack in this transfer window following Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard’s underwhelming displays last term.

Eberechi Eze, Rodrygo Goes, and Anthony Gordon have been suggested as potential targets, with the Gunners already discussing a deal to sign the Crystal Palace star.

Lookman is a talented player and has Premier League experience, having already played for Fulham, Everton, and Leicester City. However, he struggled for all those clubs.

On the other hand, Eze has proven his worth in the Premier League, so he would be a more risk-free signing for Arsenal over Lookman to bolster the attacking department.
