Arsenal ‘dream’ of signing Real Madrid star Rodrygo
Arsenal reportedly ‘dream’ of signing Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes, as per transfer journalist Graeme Bailey.
The Brazilian has been an integral part of Los Blancos’s success over the years, helping his side win multiple league titles, a couple of Champions League trophies, and a few major cup competitions.
However, since Kylian Mbappe’s arrival, the 24-year-old’s importance has been reduced in Los Merengues’ starting eleven. He even lost his place in the starting line-up towards the back end of last season under Carlo Ancelotti.
Xabi Alonso gave him the start against Al-Hilal in the first game of the Club World Cup, but he has started on the bench in the last three matches, including the last-16 encounter against Juventus.
Now, on TBR Football, Bailey says that Rodrygo will demand to leave Real Madrid once they return from the Club World Cup, and Arsenal ‘dream’ about signing him to reinforce the left flank.
The player’s top desired destination would be the Emirates Stadium should he eventually leave the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, and Arsenal feel he would be an ‘outstanding fit’ for Mikel Arteta’s system.
Rodrygo to Arsenal
The Gunners already know that they will have to spend around £75m to sign Rodrygo, plus the forward may demand a big wage. However, Arteta’s side are ready to spend big to finalise the operation.
Arsenal could purchase two wide forwards this summer, and alongside the Brazilian, Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.
Rodrygo likes to be deployed on the left flank but has played mostly as a right winger for Real Madrid because Vinicius Junior has been the undisputed starter on the left. Moreover, he can be deployed in the No.10 position if needed.
The Real Madrid star has proven his worth at the highest level in recent years and has been an integral part of the Brazil national team.
The 24-year-old is a highly talented player and is yet to reach his prime. Meaning, he still has plenty of room to develop, so he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they purchase him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually manage to sign Rodrygo to reinforce the attacking department.
