Arsenal eye move to sign PSG star Bradley Barcola
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola, as per journalist Charles Watts.
After moving to Parc des Princes from Olympique Lyonnais a couple of years ago, the Frenchman initially took time to settle down in his new surroundings.
However, he started the last term impressively and was a key player in Luis Enrique’s starting eleven. But, following Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s arrival in the winter window and Desire Doue’s eye-catching displays, his significance reduced massively in the second half of the 2024/25 season. He didn’t even start in any of Les Parisiens’ games in the group stage of the Club World Cup.
Still, he scored 21 goals and registered 18 assists in 58 appearances in all competitions last season. The forward even notched up an assist against the Seattle Sounders in the last game after coming on as a substitute.
Therefore, speculation surrounding the 22-year-old’s future has been emerging in this transfer window. Now, on Caught Offside, Watts claims that Arsenal are interested in signing a new left-sided forward and have been keeping a close eye on Barcode before making a potential swoop.
However, PSG don’t want to part ways with the forward, although he hasn’t been playing regularly in recent months. The Frenchman is valued at around £60m by Transfermarkt and still has three years left in his current contract. So, Arsenal will have to break the bank to persuade the French giants to cash-in on him this summer.
Barcola to Arsenal
Arsenal currently have Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard as the options for the left flank. But neither has been able to prove that they can help Arteta’s side achieve their lofty ambitions.
So, the Spanish boss is prioritising signing a new wide forward. Barcola is quick, technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, and is efficient in creating opportunities for fellow attackers.
He is still very young and isn’t a finished article yet. Therefore, Barcola would be a great coup for the North London club if they eventually manage to secure his service in this transfer window. However, it remains to be seen whether Arsenal will make a concrete approach to purchase him.
