Arsenal receive huge boost to sign Benjamin Sesko
Arsenal have received a huge boost in the pursuit of RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko, as per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The Gunners currently have Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus as the two options to deploy in the centre-forward position. However, while the Brazilian has continued to struggle with fitness problems in recent campaigns, the German displayed inconsistent displays last term before sustaining a hamstring problem, despite finishing the 2023/24 season promisingly.
Therefore, it looks like the North London club are prioritising strengthening the centre-forward position this summer to close the gap with Liverpool.
Arsenal were linked with a few strikers last summer, with Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres being among them, but didn’t make a concrete approach before the deadline.
Sesko and Gyokeres have once again been mentioned as a serious target for Arsenal this summer. Now, speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano states that Arsenal had concrete talks with Sesko’s agent and Leipzig last week to learn about the details of signing him.
The player is set to leave this summer, and can be available for less than the reported £84m fee, and this is a huge boost for Arsenal. However, the journalist says that nothing has been agreed yet regarding this deal.
Sesko to Arsenal
Romano said:
“Arsenal started to understand the whole situation around Sesko. Contract terms, player value in terms of what RB Leipzig want, and I’m told that could be less than the reported 100 million euros. So the conversation was ongoing. Now, still nothing agreed as of today.”
Leipzig endured a difficult campaign last term, failing to qualify for any European competitions. Still, the Slovenian displayed his goal-scoring prowess, scoring 21 goals and registering six assists in all competitions.
He, standing at 6ft 5in tall, is extremely quick, good in the air, and is one of the best ball strikers in the world, also efficient in finishing off his chances. Sesko is highly talented and possesses the potential to reach the top.
However, he is still just 22 and may take time to settle down in the Premier League. Therefore, the question mark is whether he can help the Emirates club achieve their lofty ambitions straightaway, should he eventually join this summer.
