Arsenal ‘keen’ on signing Brighton star Joao Pedro

By on May 21, 2025

Arsenal are reportedly ‘keen’ on signing Brighton and Hove Albion star Joao Pedro, as per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Gunners raided the Seagulls a couple of years ago to bolster the frontline by purchasing Leandro Trossard. The Belgian has been featuring as a utility man under Mikel Arteta and doesn’t always start if the Spanish boss’s preferred attackers are fit and available.

Still, he has showcased his ability to score crucial goals and has served the North London club pretty well. However, the forward has turned 30 and will enter the final year of his current contract this summer.

Therefore, perhaps, Arsenal have started exploring options to hire a suitable replacement for Trossard and are planning to raid the South Coast side once again.

Reporting on GiveMeSport, Romano says that Pedro has decided to leave Brighton to take the next step in his career, and his representatives have started making contacts to find a suitable destination for the Brazilian.

Pedro to Arsenal

Arsenal are ‘keen’ on signing him and have been keeping a close eye on his situation at the AMEX Stadium. The Seagulls usually slap a huge price tag on their star players’ heads to keep vultures away and want £60m for Pedro, with his existing deal set to run until 2028.

However, the North London club aren’t alone in this race as Chelsea, Liverpool, and Newcastle United are also lining up a swoop to secure his service.

Pedro is a versatile player like Trossard as he can play on the left flank and the centre-forward position. Moreover, he can be deployed in the attacking midfield role.

After joining Brighton from Watford ahead of last season, the South American enjoyed a stellar debut campaign, making 23 goal contributions in all competitions. He hasn’t been able to replicate the same goal-scoring form this term, still he has scored 10 goals and registered seven assists.

Arteta likes having players who can play multiple positions, and considering Pedro is technically gifted, he would be an ideal option for the Spanish boss’s system.

It is going to be interesting to see whether the Emirates club eventually manage to secure his service in the upcoming transfer window to strengthen the attacking department.
