Arsenal preparing to submit bid to sign Viktor Gyokeres
Arsenal are reportedly preparing to submit a formal proposal to sign Sporting CP ace Viktor Gyokeres, as per Portuguese outlet A Bola.
The Gunners are said to be planning to reinforce several areas of the squad this summer in order to finally win the Premier League title next campaign. With Thomas Partey and Jorginho looking likely to leave, replacing them is on Mikel Arteta’s agenda.
Additionally, the Spanish boss wants a new left-sided forward following Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard’s average displays this season. Above all, the North London club want a new prolific goal-scorer.
A Bola state that Arsenal want Newcastle United star Alexander Isak to reinforce the frontline but he would be very expensive so they have earmarked Gyokeres as a serious target because he is more affordable.
Arteta’s side are already preparing to submit a formal proposal to secure the Swedish international’s service this summer. Having been impressed by Gyokeres’s recent displays, Manchester City, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona are also interested in him but the player has already agreed to move to the Emirates Stadium.
Gyokeres to Arsenal
The Lions have an agreement with the player to let him leave for around £61m[€70m] but the valuation could increase if other clubs also enter the bidding war.
The report say that Arsenal are ready to spend £203m this summer to bolster the squad and want Martin Zubimendi and Nico Williams along with the Sporting star.
Gyokeres has been the most prolific goalscorer in Europe in recent seasons. He made 58 goal contributions in all competitions last term and has already scored 44 goals in as many appearances this campaign. Moreover, he has registered 11 assists.
He is quick, strong, good in the air, efficient in holding up the play, has the ability to score goals from free kicks, can create opportunities for fellow attackers and is also efficient in finishing off his chances.
Gyokeres is 26 and is at the right stage in his career to take the next step. So, he could be an excellent acquisition for the North London club if they can eventually manage to secure his service in the upcoming transfer window.
