Arsenal and Newcastle United have joined the race to sign Sporting CP winger Francisco Trincao.
The 25-year-old has rediscovered his form in Portugal, making him a top target for several European clubs.
After struggling at Barcelona and Wolverhampton Wanderers, Trincao has impressed at Sporting.
His performances this season, including nine goals and 15 assists in all competitions, have caught the attention of scouts across Europe.
According to The Mirror, Arsenal and Newcastle are the latest clubs to show interest in the Portuguese attacker.
Manchester United and Manchester City have also been linked, given their connections to Sporting’s head coach Ruben Amorim and incoming sporting director Hugo Viana.
Arsenal want to strengthen their squad, and Trincao could boost their attack while providing depth and easing the workload on Bukayo Saka.
Newcastle aim to build on their recent success and become a strong force in both the Premier League and Europe.
Adding Trincao would improve their attacking depth and bring creativity to their forward line, offering a dynamic option alongside their current attackers.
Sporting plan to keep their star winger
Sporting signed Trincao permanently in 2022, and his contract runs until June 2026.
The player is valued at £22million by Transfermarkt but Sporting are preparing a new deal to secure his future.
They are reportedly ready to offer him the number 10 shirt and a potential captaincy role.
However, Trincao’s release clause is set at £67 million, and Barcelona still holds a 50% sell-on clause.
This gives Sporting a strong negotiation position, especially if a bidding war begins among Premier League clubs.
At 25, Trincao is reaching his peak and has proven to be a creative force in attack.
His ability to play across different fields and reward positions makes him a valuable asset for any team looking to strengthen their squad.
Sporting knows they must act fast as interest continues to grow. If Arsenal, Newcastle, or another top club make a serious move, it could force the Portuguese side into making a tough decision.
