Arsenal will travel to Molineux Stadium to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League this afternoon.
The Gunners will be coming into this game off the back of a 3-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League. Following this result, they are currently third in the table with 16 points from seven games. They have almost secured their place in the round of 16 of this competition by avoiding the playoff round.
Mikel Arteta’s side lost ground in the Premier League title race after drawing against Aston Villa last weekend. So, they will be desperate to win this fixture to continue to push Liverpool for the title.
On the other hand, Wolves have been enduring a dire campaign this term, languishing 17th in the table. They are just above the relegation zone in goal difference.
Team news
Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus aren’t in contention to feature due to their respective injury problems. Takehiro Tomiyasu and Ben White have been sidelined over the last few months and are unavailable for selection in this encounter as well.
Moreover, William Saliba has been nursing a hamstring issue but is close to returning, while Myles Lewis-Skelly is in doubt after picking up a knock last weekend. He wasn’t available in the last game.
Riccardo Calafiori and Ethan Nwaneri were named among the matchday squad last time out after remaining sidelined over the last few games. Therefore, they are ready to feature this weekend.
Predicted line-up
David Raya should continue in goal for the North London club, while Jurrien Timber and Gabriel Magalhaes might be the centre-back partnership. Saliba may be given extra time to recover before next week’s Manchester City clash.
Thomas Partey is likely to start in the right-back position, while Jakub Kiwior may be on the opposite side. So, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Calafiori might have to settle for a place on the bench.
Jorginho would be in the holding midfield position and alongside the Italian, Declan Rice should commence, pushing Martin Odegaard in the advanced midfield role.
Leandro Trossard is likely to replace Raheem Sterling in the starting eleven and commence in the left flank, while Gabriel Martinelli could be shifted to the opposite side. Kai Havertz is set to continue in the centre-forward position.
Expected Arsenal line-up vs Wolves
Raya; Partey, Timber, Gabriel, Kiwior; Jorginho, Rice, Odegaard; Trossard, Havertz, Martinelli
