Arsenal ‘dream’ of signing Inter Milan star Marcus Thuram
Arsenal reportedly ‘dream’ of signing Inter Milan star Marcus Thuram, as per Italian outlet TVPLAY.it.
After running his contract down with Borussia Monchengladbach, the Frenchman decided to join the Nerazzurri as a free agent ahead of last campaign.
Upon moving to the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium, the 27-year-old enjoyed a stellar debut campaign last term, helping his side win the Scudetto title.
Now, he has continued to showcase his qualities for Inter this season, scoring 13 goals and registering three assists in 18 Serie A starts thus far.
Moreover, having displayed impressive performances in the Italian top-flight, Thuram has secured his place for France national team.
TVPLAY.it claim that following Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka’s injury, Arsenal have started exploring options to strengthen the frontline and Mikel Arteta wants to hire a readymade forward.
Thuram to Arsenal
Thuram is a ‘big dream’ for them and are prepared to submit a bid of around £59m to lure him away from the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium. The Spanish boss wants the Frenchman right away but Inter don’t want to lose him in mid-season as they are firmly in the title race.
However, they may be open to letting him leave next summer and if they receive the reported £59m proposal then Simone Inzaghi’s side might be ready to accept it as it would allow them to balance the books.
The 27-year-old is a versatile forward as he can play in the centre-forward position as well as out wide. However, he has been showcasing his best as a second striker alongside Lautaro Martínez.
Arteta usually plays with a single centre-forward and Thuram doesn’t have much experience playing this role. So, there is a question of whether he would be the right option for Arsenal to bolster the number nine department.
Nevertheless, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to lure the France international to the Emirates Stadium in January or at the end of this season.
Meanwhile, following a disappointing draw against Aston Villa, Arsenal will play against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League before facing off against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League next weekend.
