Arsenal express interest in Valencia star Cristhian Mosquera
Arsenal are reportedly planning to make a move to sign Valencia star Cristhian Mosquera, as per the transfer journalist Graeme Bailey.
The Gunners currently have a strong defensive department. William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes are the preferred duo for Mikel Arteta to deploy in the centre-back position.
Ben White, Jurrien Timber, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Jakub Kiwior and Riccardo Calafiori are the other defensive options Arteta has at his disposal at the moment.
However, while Tomiyasu has found it difficult to stay fit in recent times, Kiwior has been struggling to break into Arteta’s starting Xl. Therefore, signing an upgrade for the duo would be the right decision and the North London club are seemingly planning to do that.
On TBR Football, Bailey has reported that Arsenal have been keeping a close eye on Mosquera’s development in recent times before making a potential swoop in 2025.
Mosquera to Arsenal
The Valencia star, valued at around £25m by Transfermarkt, will enter the final year of his current contract at the end of this season. Therefore, Los Ches could be open to letting him leave next summer to avoid losing him for free in 2026.
After ranking through the Spanish club’s youth system, the 20-year-old has established himself as a key player for his boyhood club’s starting eleven in recent times.
He helped his side finish in the top half of the table last season. Although Los Ches have endured a difficult start to this season, languishing down in the relegation zone at the moment, Mosquera has showcased glimpses of his qualities.
The defender, standing at 6ft 2in tall, is quick, strong, good in the air, comfortable playing out from the back, has an eye for long-range passing and is efficient in defensive contributions.
It is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to formalise their interest in signing him next year to strengthen the defence.
Meanwhile, following a brilliant 2-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, Arsenal will host Southampton in the Premier League this weekend before the international break. After the hiatus, the Emirates club will resume their campaign versus AFC Bournemouth in the league.
