Arsenal eye audacious move to sign Bernardo Silva from Man City

Ian Wright has told Arsenal they need to sign a ‘special weapon’ in the summer and Mikel Arteta is eyeing an audacious move to sign Bernardo Silva from Manchester City.
Arsenal have emerged as serious title contenders in the past two seasons but they are yet to get over the line to win their first major trophy since 2004.
Arteta is expected to strengthen in the summer and Ian Wright claims that Arsenal need a world-class midfielder, a “special weapon”, who can provide an ‘x factor’ to help his former club win titles again.
Wright said:
“I think he’s got to do something about the left-back slot—about a real midfielder that can pass it forward, who can get forward and hit those shots. We need that X-Factor player.
“We need somebody who can come in who’s totally different from everything else. Somebody who you can think to yourself at least that he’s that special weapon.”
It appears Arteta may have found the ‘special weapon’ he wants, as the the Daily Star claims that Arsenal are eyeing a shock move to sign Bernardo Silva from Manchester City.
Silva for £50m
The newspaper says the Gunners are keeping a close eye on Silva’s situation at the Etihad Stadium and Arteta is keen to lure him to North London if he wants a new challenge.
The Daily Star says Silva is available at a very reasonable price due to a £50m release clause in his contract.
Arsenal signed both Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko from City in recent years and it looks like Arteta is hoping to raid his former club for a third time with Silva in his sights.
However, the Gunners face battle to convince Silva to join their project as the report says he wants to move to Spain if he leaves City.
According to the Daily Star, Real Madrid are the front runners ahead of Arsenal, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich to sign the Portuguese international this summer.
Obviously signing a player of Silva’s quality for £50m would be great business, but it appears the 29-year-old would snub Arsenal’s advances if they make a move this summer as he eyes a switch to Spain.
