Arsenal could reportedly sign Donyell Malen this summer

Arsenal could reportedly sign Borussia Dortmund star Donyell Malen this summer, as per the German journalist Florian Plettenberg.
After enjoying a promising campaign this term, the Gunners are likely to spend big once again in the upcoming transfer window to reinforce the squad and help Mikel Arteta achieve their lofty ambitions next season.
Strengthening the centre-forward position and the engine room is reportedly on Arteta’s wish-list but signing a new winger to support Bukayo Saka is on the Spanish boss’ to-do list as well.
Several forwards have been mentioned as serious targets for the North London club with Nico Williams, Pedro Neto and Michael Olise being among them, but Malen is reportedly on their radar as well.
Now, writing on X, Plettenberg has reported that Malen is willing to leave Dortmund at the end of this season and Arsenal are likely to be his next destination.
The journalist further claims that Dortmund could be open to cashing-in on the forward if they receive an offer of at least £34m so Arsenal will have to spend a sizable amount of money to secure his signature.
Malen to Arsenal
However, Plettenberg states that Liverpool are also interested in signing him and they are set to provide tough competition for the Gunners over this deal.
Manchester United have also been linked with a move to Malen in recent times, but the journalist says that the Red Devils haven’t shown any serious interest in signing him.
Plettenberg wrote:
“News Malen: Been told that ManUtd is not seriously pushing for the 25 y/o winger at this stage! Arsenal, Liverpool and other clubs from the Premier League are more concrete options for him in the summer!
“Malen still wants to leave BVB in summer. Price valuation from all parties involved: €40-50m all-in! 13 goals and 5 assists this season in all competitions. Contract valid until 2026.”
Malen has displayed promising performances in the Bundesliga this term, but the forward hasn’t been able to showcase his best consistently enough over the last few years to prove that he would be the right option for Arsenal to reinforce their frontline.
So, I think the North London club would be better off exploring other options to strengthen their attacking department in the upcoming transfer window.
