Arsenal contemplating summer swoop for Fikayo Tomori

Arsenal are reportedly contemplating a summer swoop for AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori, as per 90min.
After graduating from the Chelsea academy, the 25-year-old made a handful of appearances for the Blues before joining the Rossoneri back in 2021.
The Englishman took no time to settle down in his new surroundings and has been displaying promising performances for Stefano Pioli’s side over the last few campaigns, helping his side in winning the Scudetto last term and guiding Milan to the Champions League semi-final this season.
Tomori’s excellent performance for Milan has attracted the attention of several big Premier League clubs with Arsenal among those to have registered their interest.
According to the report by 90min, Arsenal have been monitoring Tomori’s development ahead of a potential summer move and they even sent scouts to watch him in last Saturday’s crucial Serie A clash against AS Roma.
Tomori to Arsenal
The report further claims that Tomori could be tempted to move to the Premier League to boost his chances of playing for England. So, a summer move to the Emirates Stadium could be on the cards for the 25-year-old.
However, 90min claims that securing Tomori’s signature won’t be straightforward for Arsenal as Manchester United, Liverpool, Newcastle United and Chelsea have all been eyeing a swoop for the Milan star, so the odds are high that Arsenal will win the race.
Tomori – valued at around £40m by Transfermarkt – still has more than four years left in his current contract. So, Milan are in no rush to let their star man leave over the coming months and Arsenal would need to offer a lucrative proposal to persuade them to sell.
The 24-year-old is blistering quick, good in the air, comfortable playing out from the back, excellent in defensive contributions and also reads the game extremely well.
Arsenal need to bolster their backline to challenge on all fronts from next season and Tomori could be a shrewd acquisition if they decide to push forward and broker a deal this summer.
However, it remains to be seen whether Arsenal manage to lure Tomori away from San Siro should they opt to formalise their interest at the end of this season.
