Arsenal ready to make summer swoop for Atalanta ace Hojlund

Arsenal are reportedly ready to make a summer swoop for Atalanta forward Rasmus Winther Hojlund, as per the Italian outlet Tutto Atalanta.

After displaying a string of impressive performances with club and country in recent months, the 20-year-old has caught the attention of numerous big European clubs with Arsenal among those to have registered their interest.

The Gunners have reportedly sent scouts to monitor the striker’s development ahead of a potential summer move. And following intensive scrutiny, the north London club have seemingly been convinced by the youngster’s ability as Tutto Atalanta says that the north London club are ready to spend big to sign the forward this summer.

The report further claims that Atalanta want £35m to sell their star man – who joined Gian Piero Gasperini’s side in a £15m deal last summer and still has more than four years left in his current deal. So, Arsenal would be able to broker this deal for a reasonable price.

Hojlund to Arsenal

However, the report says that securing the forward’s service won’t be straightforward for the Gunners as Newcastle United, Manchester United, Napoli and AC Milan are also showing interest in purchasing the Dane at the end of this season.

Hojlund has already showcased glimpses of his talent during a very short time at the Italian top-flight. So, he would certainly be a very good signing for Arsenal if they manage to sign him this summer.

But, the forward has recently expressed that he is a big fan of Man Utd and would love to move to Old Trafford. So, Arsenal might struggle to persuade the youngster to join the club should they go head-to-head with the Red Devils over this deal.

Having already got Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah and Leandro Trossard in their ranks, and Florian Balogun to return from loan, the Gunners don’t need more additions to their attacking department at the moment.

Also, with Arsenal looking to bolster their midfield this summer, they shouldn’t spend the reported £35m to sign another centre-forward. Saving the money to fund reinforcements in midfield would be a wiser decision.
