Arsenal eyeing move for Leandro Trossard in January

Arsenal are reportedly contemplating a move for Brighton & Hove Albion forward Leandro Trossard in January, as per talkSport.
The Gunners are keen on strengthening their attack this month as Mikel Arteta needs more options to help maintain their title charge. Joao Felix and Mykhaylo Mudryk were thought to be the priority targets, however, having lost both of them to Chelsea, the Emirates outfit may have now shifted their focus to signing the Brighton man.
According to the report by talkSport, after falling out with the new manager Roberto De Zerbi, the Belgian international is now set to move away from the AMEX Stadium this month and the Seagulls want a fee of around £25m to let the forward leave the club.
The report further claims that Arsenal have identified Trossard as the alternative to Mudryk and they could make a move for him before the window slams shut. However, the Gunners will face tough competition from bitter rival Tottenham Hotspur in getting this deal done as Spurs are also keen on signing the highly talented forward.
Trossard to Arsenal
Arsenal went into the World Cup break on a high note and there was some concern about whether they could continue performing at the same level after the hiatus.
However, they have proved their doubters wrong and have continued to showcase their best following the resumption of club football. Arsenal are currently top of the league with 47 points from 18 games, eight points ahead of second-placed Manchester City, so they are now the bookies favourites to win the Premier League title this term.
But, the north London club lack depth in their squad and if they are struck with injury problems and burnout issues in the coming months as the fixture will come thick and fast then that could jeopardise their dream of lifting the title. Therefore, signing more options this winter will help Arteta to rotate his squad and keep his players fresh during the second half of the season.
Arsenal lack depth in their attack and signing a new forward will be vital, however, Trossard may not be the ideal option. Arteta wants his attackers to press the opposition higher up the field, but the Belgian isn’t dynamic enough to play in a high-intensity style of football. So, Arsenal should shift their focus from the 28-year-old and explore other options to strengthen the front line this January.
