Arsenal could consider re-signing Valencia star Yunus Musah
Arsenal could reportedly consider re-signing Valencia star Yunus Musah in the upcoming January transfer window, as per the transfer journalist Peter O’Rourke.
The 20-year-old came through the Gunners’ Hale End academy before moving to the Estadio Mestalla back in 2019. The youngster made his senior debut in the following year for the Spanish side and since then, he has established himself as a key player for them.
It has widely been touted that the Gunners are exploring the possibility of strengthening their engine room this winter and they have already been linked with several options. While Musah has recently emerged as a new potential target for Mikel Arteta’s side.
Speaking to This Is Futbol, Peter O’Rourke has claimed that Arsenal already know a lot about Musah, given he spent around seven years at the north London club’s academy before joining the Ches.
The journalist further states that Arsenal will have ‘kept tabs’ on the Valencia star and monitored the player’s development over the last few years. O’Rourke also says that Musah could be the player that the Gunners might consider purchasing to bolster their midfield department in the upcoming transfer window.
Yunus Musah to Arsenal
O’Rourke said:
“Obviously Arsenal know all about him. He used to be in their youth ranks before he moved to Valencia so I’m sure they’ll have kept tabs on him and if he’s maybe available from Valencia, I’m sure he will come onto Arsenal’s radar or maybe being that player to come into midfield.”
Musah could be a very good acquisition for Arsenal. The youngster has displayed promising performance during his time in La Liga in recent years and he enjoyed a decent World Cup campaign with his national team as well, helping Gregg Berhalter’s side in reaching the last-16 stage before losing to the Netherlands.
This suggests he has the capability to showcase his best on the biggest stage of world football. He is still very young and has plenty of room to develop. So, he would certainly be a great signing for Arteta’s side if the midfielder were to join the club.
However, Musah – valued at around £17m by Transfermarkt – still has more than three and a half years left in his current contract. Therefore, Valencia won’t be in any rush to sell their star man and Arsenal might be needed to offer a big transfer fee in order to persuade Gennaro Gattuso’s side in selling the midfielder this January.
