Arsenal need to pay £87m to sign target Mykhaylo Mudryk
Shakhtar Donetsk have reportedly slapped a whopping £87m price tag on Arsenal target Mykhaylo Mudryk, as per The Athletic.
The Gunners appear to be keen on signing a new winger in the upcoming January transfer window and the 21-year-old has seemingly been one of the targets for Mikel Arteta, to bolster the flanks.
The Ukrainian has recently revealed that he regularly follows Arsenal and watches their games. The winger also said that he would be open to joining the Emirates Stadium this January as long as Arteta can guarantee him regular playing time.
Meanwhile, Shakhtar’s director of Football Dario Srna has sent a clear message to Mudryk’s suitors and said that if anyone wants to sign the Ukraine international – who is one of the best young talents in world football – then they will have to break their bank and spend big.
Srna also stated that Mudryk has similar qualities to Antony and Jack Grealish, who joined Manchester United and Manchester City respectively for a fee of around €100m (£87m). And Shakhtar don’t want to listen to offers of anything less than that figure for their star man.
Mykhaylo Mudryk to Arsenal
Srna said:
“If somebody wants to buy Mudryk, they must pay huge, huge, huge money. Otherwise, the president of the club (Rinat Akhmetov) will not sell him. All the clubs must respect the President, respect Shakhtar and in the end, they must respect Mykhaylo Mudryk, who is one of the best players I saw. The price is so big.
“Antony, Grealish, they are players of more than €100m and for me, Mudryk does not have less quality than them. This is the last two transfers in the past year, in more or less the same positions.”
Mudryk said during an interview this week that he would be disappointed if he could not find his way out of Shakhtar this January and take the next step in his career. But, if the Ukrainian giants stay firm on their valuation then it is highly unlikely that Arsenal will sign him this winter.
Arsenal might also struggle to broker a deal for Mudryk for the reported fee this January and the Ukrainian’s price tag could force the north London club to shift their focus to the other targets to strengthen their flank.
