Arsenal weighing up move for Frankfurt star Evan Ndicka
Arsenal are reportedly weighing up a move for Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka in the January transfer window, as per the Evening Standard.
The 23-year-old’s current deal will expire at the end of this season and he hasn’t agreed on extending his contract yet with Oliver Glasner’s side. So, it appears the Frenchman could leave the German club for a cut-price fee in January or for free next summer.
According to the report by the Evening Standard, Arsenal are keen on signing Ndicka in January in order to take advantage of his current contract situation. Mikel Arteta is eyeing a new left-footed defender to ‘provide competition for Gabriel Magalhães and Ndicka is on his radar.
The report further claims that Although Frankfurt want their star man to commit his future at Deutsche Bank Park, they could cash in on the 23-year-old in the winter window in fear of losing him for free next summer.
The report also says that Arsenal are set to face competition from other clubs to sign the highly-rated defender as many European clubs are also keeping tabs on his current situation with Juventus being one of them.
Ndicka to Arsenal
Ndicka could be an excellent signing for Arsenal. The defender is valued at around £29m by Transfermarkt and purchasing a talented player like him for a cut-price fee in January or for free next summer would be a great business by the club’s hierarchy.
Arteta likes to deploy a left-footed centre-back on the left and the Spanish boss doesn’t have any alternative option behind Gabriel Magalhães. So, the Frenchman would be a perfect addition to create competition for the left-centre-back position.
Gabriel has made some mistakes in recent matches and providing competition for his place could help bring the best out of the Brazilian. So, Arsenal should make a move for Ndicka if he becomes available in the upcoming transfer window.
Meanwhile, Arteta’s side secured their place in the Europa League’s knock-out stage with a 1-0 victory over PSV Eindhoven last night. They now just need to avoid defeat away to PSV next week to secure their place at the top of Group A and avoid playing in the playoffs.
